Party was freezing cold; I left

You know, I have a reputation for being an extremely difficult human being.

  • I don’t think that I actually am that challenging, but I do recognize that I have a lot of impulsive behaviors that can be hard to understand.

Often times, I am operating on the same old fight, flight, fries, and fawn responses that I learned during my tumultuous upbringing. Unfortunately, other people don’t typically understand when you are operating on survival instincts instead of a modern human brain. This is one of the things that I am still having to work on, especially after creating a big scene at my work party last week. You see, I am extremely sensitive to indoor air temperatures on top of everything else. I cannot stand a burning hot or freezing cold room, because my body does not regulate my temperature very well. I have to rely on the central heating, cooling, and air quality control systems that can be found in most modern residential and Commercial properties. Unfortunately, when somebody has thermostat settings that do not agree with my own temperature control preferences, things can get difficult. This is what happened at our office party. I walked in and the air temperature was freezing cold. It felt like somebody was blasting me with arctic air. I tried to stay warm by going outside and putting on additional layers, but nothing was offsetting the Ice Cold air Conditioning. Eventually my body was getting so over stimulated by the cool temperatures that I needed to leave. I found myself in a “Flight” state from the brutal cold air and I couldn’t stop it. FYI – pulling an Irish Goodbye at your boss’s party doesn’t go over well.
